Crowns
In what circumstances would a crown be appropriate? Crowns are used to cover a dental implant, to cover teeth that are discolored or misshappen, and to restore a broken tooth or one that is worn down. Sometimes, if a tooth is so decayed that is requires a filling that is too large for the remaining tooth structure to support, a crown may be necessary. Cowns are also appropriate for protecting a weakened tooth from breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth.
Crowns can be made from metal, porcelain fused to metal or gold, or all ceramic. During your first visit, an xray will likely be taken to assess the roots and surrounding bone of the tooth that needs the crown. Dr. Gladnick will the reshape the tooth and may use some filling material to build up the tooth to support the crown. Next an impression will be taken of the teeth above or beolow the tooth receiving the crown to ensure that your bite will be correct.
Dr. Gladnick uses only the best dental labs to make sure that your crown looks and feels like your original tooth. He is able to achieve a translucency effect and to choose just the perfect shade that will enhance your appearance.
